Keeping local deer population away from your garden is perhaps one among the worst predicament faced by any gardener. The greenery, colorful flowers, thick green grass, all these are the special attractions of your garden and is also attracts deer because these are the favorite stuffs feed by them. There are many deterrent and repellents available in the pest control drug stores, but that would hardly work because the chemicals could harm deer.
There are some home remedies one can apply to the garden so that deer can be diverted or fooled if they come to feed.
Usually dogs are considered as the best option to keep deer away from your yard or garden, provided you have a special and well trained breed. If you have a small garden, netting and fencing off the entire area can be a good option. Growing some different kinds of plants, which deer is not fond of, can be planted on the border of your garden works well to stay deer away. Deer don’t like the smell of rotten eggs. So, you can let eggs rot and then place on the path deer enter your garden. There is Coyote urine, which is available in the local hunting supply store, can also be used as a repellent to deter deer. Then you can use scare tactics like running fast towards deer or spraying water or throwing tiny rocks towards them or yelling wildly to scare them. At the end, always remember that deer gets used to the same things rapidly, so keep on changing your strategy often.
