Gettring Rid of Deer in My Garden

Filed under: Gardening — Tags: — admin @ 6:47 am

Keeping local deer population away from your garden is perhaps one among the worst predicament faced by any gardener. The greenery, colorful flowers, thick green grass, all these are the special attractions of your garden and is also attracts deer because these are the favorite stuffs feed by them. There are many deterrent and repellents available in the pest control drug stores, but that would hardly work because the chemicals could harm deer.

There are some home remedies one can apply to the garden so that deer can be diverted or fooled if they come to feed.

Usually dogs are considered as the best option to keep deer away from your yard or garden, provided you have a special and well trained breed. If you have a small garden, netting and fencing off the entire area can be a good option. Growing some different kinds of plants, which deer is not fond of, can be planted on the border of your garden works well to stay deer away. It’s also being experimented that if you have few pet cats around your house, deer will never approach the surroundings of the house.

Deer don’t like the smell of rotten eggs. So, you can let eggs rot and then place on the path deer enter your garden. There is Coyote urine, which is available in the local hunting supply store, can also be used as a repellent to deter deer. Then you can use scare tactics like running fast towards deer or spraying water or throwing tiny rocks towards them or yelling wildly to scare them. At the end, always remember that deer gets used to the same things rapidly, so keep on changing your strategy often.

Looking After Your Teak Furniture

Filed under: Gardening — Tags: — admin @ 10:53 am

Teak furniture can have a tendency to not retain its original striking appearance. This is due to the properties of the wood. To help maintain its original look then you will need to look after it each year by not only placing covers over it , but also sealing it. When the furniture is new it should be ok for the first season. In the following years it will pay dividends to do a little remedial work to keep it in tip top condition. At the beginning of a new season, take some time to lightly rub down the frame with some water that is warm and has soap in it. This will get rid of any dirt and grime. Once you have done that allow it to dry outside thoroughly. The next step is to apply a sealer to the teak furniture. I’m familiar with a plenty of teak furniture Massachusetts showrooms that have great outdoor and indoor stocks, they will supply the right sealer on asking.

This substance is called the d-limonene. It is this substance that can so effectively repel insects today. It plays a vital role in organic farming as it acts as a safe and natural insecticide. It repels almost all species of insects while leaving the plant unharmed and safe to eat.

The most common way to use it as an insecticide or pesticide would be to mix it with warm water and spray it all over your plants. Its effects last long as the oil won’t evaporate out and will continue to stay on the surface of the plants. A single application can typically last for up to days, which can save you a lot of time.
